TMC Community Capital Kicks Off ‘Run Your Business’ 5k Series in South Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CATMC Community Capital is bringing a new kind of community event to South Los Angeles with the launch of Run Your Business, a free 5K run focused on financial fitness, local entrepreneurship, and neighborhood connection.

Taking place on May 23rd from 9AM–1PM, the event invites Los Angeles residents to come together through movement, small business discovery, and conversations around economic opportunity. Whether participants choose to run the route, walk with friends, support local vendors, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, Run Your Business is designed to make conversations around financial wellness feel accessible, community-driven, and rooted in culture. Special thanks to the Office of Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell for their partnership and support in helping bring Run Your Business to South Los Angeles.

“Small business corridors are the heartbeat of our communities – providing spaces to gather, connect, and celebrate. I created the Corridors 2 Community Initiative to partner with our small businesses and residents in pouring back into the neighborhoods they are proud to call home, this has led to making an impact with our community-led revitalization on Central Avenue,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with TMC Community Capital to further our shared commitment to supporting small businesses and to bring fun, engaging, and resource-filled opportunities to the Florence-Firestone community.”

At the center of the event provided by Wells Fargo, is the idea that financial fitness deserves the same attention as physical wellness. Just as healthy habits can strengthen the body, access to resources, support systems, and economic opportunity can help strengthen families, entrepreneurs, and entire communities.

Following the 5K hosted by South Central Run Club, attendees can explore a community marketplace featuring local businesses including Crenshaw Coffee Company, Prosperity Market, Sole Folks, Paleteria El Paraiso, and Guajillo Mexican Restaurant, alongside additional vendors and community organizations from across Los Angeles. The event will also include music by Grammy-nominated producer, rapper, DJ, and songwriter Like, free giveaways, food, and resources for small business owners and local residents.

Run Your Business is supported by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Comerica, RDF, Banner Bank, and the Latino Community Foundation, reflecting a shared investment in creating more accessible pathways to economic mobility and community wellness across Los Angeles.

The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is encouraged.
